Basic Navigation and Safety Course This new 2 day theory course provides the essentials in safety and basic navigation, covering topics such as charts, tides, anchoring, weather, visual and electronic navigation and Rules of the Road. There is no end of course exam. It is the ideal first course for those who want the key knowledge before getting out on the water or for a member of crew who wishes to have a fundamental awareness.
Day Skipper Theory This course covers subjects which include navigation in more detail, safety, the Collision Regulations, tidal heights and streams, visual and charted passage planning, meteorology, ropework and the marine environment. No experience is necessary before taking this course. This is offered as either an intensive 5 day course or 3 sessions of 2 days.
Yachtmaster Coastal / Yachtmaster Offshore Theory This advanced theory course is the same for Yachtmaster Coastal or Yachtmaster Offshore. Your navigational skills need to be to Day Skipper Shorebased standard, but provision is made for some revision. All topics are now covered in greater depth with more emphasis placed on Collision Regulations (IRPCS), meteorology, electronic navigational aids, passage planning and making. This is offered as either an intensive 5 day course or 3 sessions of 2 days.
