VHF /SRC Radio Operator's Licence

A one day course which gives the Short Range Radio Operator's Licence - a legal requirement for VHF/DSC users, covering voice and digital radio procedures, and GMDSS (Global Maritime Distress and Safety System). It includes a short test and continual assessment. For training we use the latest Simrad RD68T digital sets.

 

Diesel Engine Maintenance

This one day course is to give an awareness of the main systems of a marine diesel engine, to show simple measures to help prevent breakdowns at sea and to learn how to rectify simple problems.  The RYA Diesel Engine Certificate is issued on a continual assessment basis.

Radar Certificate

The aim of this one day course is to give an understanding of the use of radar in pleasure boats as an aid to navigation and collision avoidance.  The RYA Radar Certificate is issued on a continual assessment basis.

 

First Aid

This one day course is to give a knowledge of First Aid, including resuscitation, control of bleeding, drowning, treatment of an unconscious casualty and recognition/treatment of hypothermia.   This certificate is required for those students wishing to complete the Advanced Powerboat, Coastal Skipper or Yachtmaster practical courses and is issued on a continual assessment basis.
